2015 Year 6 Activity Week.As you might be aware our Year 6 children have the opportunity to attend the Llain Activity Centre during the week beginning 6th July. If you would like your child to take part, please would you send in a £30 deposit (non-refundable) to your childs class teacher by Friday 23rd January.
When you pay the £30 deposit, you will then be given a savings booklet which will enable you to pay in instalments. The full cost of the Activity Week is a very reasonable £120 ( half the actual cost thanks to a grant) This money covers full board, a full timetable of outdoor activities and transport to and from the centre. |
SRE teachings in school Years 3 - 6 - What is SRE??
Nowadays there is a lot of information about relationships and sex on the internet, on TV, in magazines, which children may have access to, and this can sometimes make an already confusing time seem even more complicated! As a school we are legally required to teach children about sex and relationships this is called SRE*. In keystge 2 (year 3 - 6) as part of the school's Personal, Social and Health Education programme your child will receive lessons on relationships.
The purpose of SRE is to teach children how the body changes during puberty. It also develops an understanding and attitudes which will help children to form good relationships later in life.
If children are given good information and the confidence and knowledge to understand what is happening to them, they will hopefully grow into confident and healthy adults able to make good choices. This can start with learning about growing up and lessons in school will support what you are already doing at home.
What your child will be learning?
YEAR 3: Children will learn about what makes a good friend and discuss friendships.
YEAR 4: Children will learn about family and how everybody is different.
YEAR 5: Children will learn about relationships and talk about how we are all similar yet different as we grow up.
YEAR 6: Children will discuss what a good relationship is and also be introduced to puberty.
